Do Not Judge Me
When you see a person, you expect certain things from them. That’s just the way it is. People say, “Don’t judge!!” Well, that’s just too darn bad because that’s what I’m going to do. My eyes are going to observe certain things about people and then calculate it against past experiences, filter it through a few stereotypes and then come up with a conclusion. Sorry if I get it wrong, which is sometimes the case. I will judge you. Hopefully I won’t act in a negative or offensive way based on that judgment, but my brain is still going to do it. With or without my permission. You have every opportunity to try and disprove the judgment that I have made about you. Please do. But I’m not going to sit here and lie and make the claim that I don’t judge. If I see a man in tatter clothing and begging for money in downtown Chicago, I’m going to think that he’s homeless. That’s just the way it is. For now.
